For Grade 10 HCOS student Jackson R, this year has been nothing short of extraordinary. Balancing home education with competitive high school football, Jackson has discovered new strengths, deepened his faith, and stepped confidently into leadership both on and off the field.
- Growth and Guidance
Home education through HCOS has given Jackson the freedom to pursue a unique academic journey while still participating in extracurricular sports at his local high school, Westsyde Secondary in Kamloops, BC. This flexibility has allowed him to thrive and fully commit to the sport he loves.
“It’s a huge blessing,” Jackson shares. “HCOS not only allows me to have a flexible, unique, prime education, but I am also blessed with the opportunity to play extracurricular sports. I am so thankful to God for this season, as I have gotten to build some great friendships and shine the light of Christ on my team.”
- A Strong Start
Jackson describes the season as starting “hot,” and the highlights show why. After learning from their preseason games, his team defeated their long-time cross-town rivals 33–0, a major victory!
The momentum continued as the team powered through their division, eventually facing the only other undefeated school in their league. In that high-stakes game for the Okanagan Championship, Jackson’s team came out on top, winning 30–13!
With that victory secured, they now get to host a playoff game as they fight for the Provincial Championship!

As Jackson continues into the playoffs, one thing is clear: his journey is fueled by hard work and unwavering faith.
