Lessons Providers and Criminal Record Checks (CRCs)

A reminder to HCOS Parents and all Lesson Providers: Provincial Regulations now mandate a Criminal Record Check for anyone providing lessons to our students. Organizations need only provide a letter, on official stationary, that a CRC Policy for all staff and volunteers is in place.

Individual Lesson Providers MUST have a CRC done through the Ministry of Justice (RCMP CRCs are not acceptable). HCOS CANNOT process and pay invoices unless a valid CRC or CRC policy has been confirmed. For more information and to apply for a Criminal Record Check, please contact the HCOS office at office@onlineschool.ca

Who We Are

We are...

HCOS is a K-12 distributed learning school, providing discipleship-based Christian education.

Our Philosophy

We believe that parents have a God given responsibility in the education of their children. We are here to provide educational support and flexibility, enabling children to find and develop God's gifts, calling, and purpose for each of their lives.

What We Do

We provide quality educational choices with Christian values. Our Individualized and Online programs connect Christian teachers with families and students to provide guidance and support. We also serve registered homeschool families.

Distributed Learning

Our Distributed Learning program options are tailored to your children's interests, abilities, and needs, while promoting a Christian educational environment of safety, acceptance, and respect for all students.

The Integrated Option

Homeschool Registration

Not every home educator wants the accountability that comes with being enrolled with a DL program. The School Act allows families to register students as home learners. Parents who register must provide their children with "a program", but they are not required to follow the Provincial Learning Outcomes, nor report grades or progress. This differs from an enrolled DL program in terms of funding and Ministry expectations.
