For Grade 8 HCOS student Lucas S., a childhood hobby has grown into a bigger adventure. What started as a Hot Wheels collection turned into a small business, one that is teaching him real-world skills, building confidence, and creating future opportunities beyond the track.
- The Start of Something Big
Lucas began collecting Hot Wheels for fun at the age of 9, but in the summer of 2024, it all changed. With an eye for rare finds and growing enthusiasm for the hobby, he launched his own reselling business.
“It makes me money!” he shares with the honesty and excitement of a young entrepreneur.
What started as something small has become something meaningful and educational. Through buying, selling, and promoting, Lucas is discovering what it takes to run a successful business.
- Fueling Dreams
Lucas’ business has continued to grow since its humble beginnings in 2024. He hopes to attend the Hot Wheels Convention or Legends Tour one day, where enthusiasts gather to trade, showcase, and celebrate their collections.
Beyond loving everything about the cars, Lucas says that the process is all-around fun: fun to hunt, fun to collect, and, of course, fun to make money along the way.
- Shifting Gears in Education
Home education has played a meaningful role in Lucas’ journey. With the flexibility that HCOS provides, he is able to dedicate time to his business. This freedom allows him to explore what he loves while developing independence, creativity, and responsibility, all essential traits for an up-and-coming entrepreneur.
- The Road Ahead
Lucas’ Hot Wheels business may be young, but it’s already teaching him valuable lessons about effort and the excitement of building something himself. He’s driving full speed toward big goals and dreams.
