When Lily first picked up a bow at nine years old, she was simply looking for something new to try. She had no idea that a spark of curiosity would grow into years of focused training, competitions and most importantly, a BC record for Outdoor U15 Women’s Recurve. Lily’s talent for archery has taken her across the province, and soon it will be taking her across the world!
- Finding the Target Early
As she grew, so did her dedication. What began as a fun new challenge evolved into a genuine athletic pursuit. Over the past few years, Lily started training seriously, committing herself to learning form, control, patience, and discipline, traits that are now at the heart of her success.
“When I shoot, everything else disappears except the target in front of me.” Lily shared earnestly.
These lessons haven’t just shaped her as an athlete. They’ve shaped her as a person.
- Hitting the Mark
As Lily’s commitment deepened, so did her results. Through consistent practice and disciplined routines, she learned how to stay calm under pressure, train with purpose, and give her best in every competition. One of her favourite destinations this year was Armstrong, BC, the place where she delivered some of her strongest performances yet.
- Silver – 2025 Canadian Outdoor Target Championships
- Gold – 2025 BC Outdoor Provincials
- Bronze – 2025 Canada Cup West Youth
And of course, her standout accomplishment: breaking the BC Outdoor U15 Women’s Recurve record.
- Support Behind the Shot
Home education has played a key role in Lily’s journey. With a flexible schedule, she’s been able to train during the day, travel for competitions, and stay on top of her coursework without compromise.
“Home education has helped me balance training and competitions… and focus on both my schoolwork and my athletic goals.”
Her experience is a model example of how HCOS students can truly thrive when learning is shaped around their passions.
- Setting Her Sights Forward
Lily’s next chapter is already in motion. She’s preparing for another full season of competitions across BC and Canada, as well as one particularly exciting opportunity.
She has been selected to compete at the International Children’s Games in Taiwan in August 2026, where she will proudly represent both Kelowna and Canada!
The HCOS community is proud to cheer Lily on as she takes aim at her next big goal. Keep reaching for the bullseye, Lily!
