At HCOS, we love to celebrate students who show determination and heart in pursuing their passions. Cadence J, a Grade 9 HCOS student and dedicated cross-country runner, embodies all of that and more as she races her way toward success, one step at a time.
- Running Towards Her Goals
Cadence’s love for running began back in Grade 4, and she hasn’t stopped since. Over the years, her dedication has carried her through countless races, pushing her to become stronger with every finish line she crosses.
Most recently, Cadence competed in the Island Championship cross-country race, where her hard work truly paid off; she qualified for Provincials! Today, November 1st, she’ll be racing in Nanoose Bay against some of the best athletes from across British Columbia.
“I am excited that I qualified because I worked so hard,” Cadence shares. “I can do better than I think I can. I just have to give it all my effort.”
- The Power of Perseverance
The empowerment of each race doesn’t just give Cadence determination. Every run teaches her perseverance, focus, and confidence. With the flexibility of home education, Cadence has more time to train and chase her goals.
Her story reminds us that success comes from showing up, giving your all, and believing in yourself, even when the journey feels long.
- Eyes on the Finish Line
As Cadence competes in Provincials, her passion and positive mindset continue to inspire those around her. Whether she’s training for her next run or standing at the starting line, she shows that with determination and perseverance, anything is possible.
Congratulations Cadence on your incredible accomplishment! The HCOS community is cheering you on as you race in Provincials today and in your future successes!
