Learning Support Coach

HCOS has an opening for a Learning Support Coach in the Inclusive Education Department. This is a full-time remote permanent position at 40 hours per week. The primary role of the Learning Support Coach is to support the implementation of the Response To Instruction (RTI) model for students, providing professional development and support for teachers and administrators of Tier 1 students. It is also to act as a Learning Support Coach (LSC) to teachers of Tier 2 students based on the three years to effective support coaching model, as well as case manage supports and assessments for Tier 2 learners.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide professional development and Tier 1 (Universal/Universal+) support for K-12 teachers.
• Deliver three-year model training and coaching for K-12 teachers.
• Collaborate with the Inclusive Education Regional Administrator (IE RA) on assessments, therapies, and external supports (Tier 2 & potential designations).
• Coach teachers on student support strategies, including self-advocacy, independence, and executive functioning.
• Utilize school databases to plan, implement, and review student support programs.
• Facilitate IEP meetings with teachers and parents; develop IEPs for students under LSC management.
• Participate in Student at Risk Team (SRT) meetings and assist with category designation applications.
• Support teachers in completing modules and maintaining detailed case notes.
• Provide coaching and inclusive practices support for Community Connections (CC) teachers and coordinators.
• Deliver professional development on Learning Support topics as requested.
• Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance student and family support.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

• BC Certified Teacher with a strong interest in inclusive education.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and accountable.
• Skilled communicator, collaborator, and creative problem solver with a flexible approach to innovation and change.
• Experienced in coaching and supporting teachers.
• Technologically proficient across multiple databases and online tools (Encom, FileMaker, Alfresco, Google Drive).
