Sometimes, opportunities come from the most unexpected moments. For Zaccaria O., his journey to becoming a Junior Chef with the Canadian Culinary Federation began with something simple: sharing a recipe.
In his own words, Zaccaria described the moment as “unexpected,” explaining he had shared a recipe as part of the process to join—and to his surprise, he was accepted!
Zaccaria started volunteering in 2022 washing dishes, then received his Food Safe and started cooking for the community. Zaccaria volunteered at The Good Kitchen in Sicily where he made an “inside out pizza” from vegetable leftovers and submitted the recipe to the Canadian Culinary Federation. They responded with an invite to join as a junior chef!
Now, as a Junior Chef, Zaccaria is already looking ahead to new horizons. “I am hoping to volunteer in Canada in community kitchens,” he shared.
Zaccaria’s story is a reminder that taking a chance and putting yourself out there can open doors you never imagined. From a shared recipe to a Junior Chef position, this is a success worth celebrating!
