Celebrating Our May Photo Contest Winners!
Throughout the month of May, we invited our HCOS community to share glimpses of their learning journeys through the #HCOSCommunity Photo Contest. From cozy study spaces and outdoor adventures to acts of service and creative projects, we were blown away by the heart, imagination, and joy captured in each submission. Thank you to every student and family who participated – you’ve truly inspired us!
We’re thrilled to now share the winning photos in each category. These images highlight just a few of the amazing ways our students are living, learning, and growing with HCOS.
And now, the moment we’ve all been waiting for…
Congratulations to our category winners!

In this photo I am reading “Heartwood Hotel” (one of my book study books) in my newly built treehouse. As part of my ADST my dad and I built a treehouse in our maple tree this spring. My favourite part of this project was how now I can do school in the sky!

Faith & Service
Student Name: Justus
Grade: 3
Tell us about your photo:
We took our children to Uganda on a mission trip with our church for the second time last October. Justus really enjoyed helping put together the wheelchairs that we would give out later in the week, and he was even able to help his Dad adjust the footrests for Junior on our last giving day. When Junior’s Mom learned that Justus was the same age as her son, the sadness in her eyes was heart-breaking as she began to compare them and what their bodies were able to do. But that sadness quickly turned to joy when Justus leaned down with his heart of service to help her son get fit in his new wheelchair, adjusting the footrest as his Daddy directed. Out came the smiles and the cameras, and it became a very special moment for all involved.
